The Old Dorms of Agricultural Experimental Institute (now Fudong Cultural Park)

The old dorms are located in the space surrounded by Lane 158 of Dongmen Rd. Sec. 2, Fudong St. and Guanghua St., which served as the dorms for officials from the Agricultural Experimental Institute in the Japanese Colonial Period. In April 30, 2004, the dorms were assigned Municiple Historical Site by the city government. The old dorms are one-storey wooden buildings with wide windows and visors. The neighboring area is now reconstructed as Fudong Cultural Park, one of the most popular visiting spots in the East District of Tainan, where visitors can experience wearing a yukata and Japanese tea ceremony culture, enjoying a taste of tranquility among the bustling urban spaces. Next to the dorms are the Hidden Treasure Pavillion, Tainan Holiday Marketplace, and Dadong Night Market (open Mon, Tue, Fri), all of which are worth a visit.
